OUR STORY

Providing essentials, emotional support, and community during times of crisis and beyond.
Altadena Girls was founded by then 14 year old Avery Colvert in response to the Eaton Canyon Fire, but our mission extends far beyond a single moment. What began as a response to loss became a long-term commitment to teen girls and those who identify with girlhood, who are often expected to recover quietly, without support, stability, or space to process what they’ve experienced.
Altadena Girls exists to ensure girls are not forgotten  before, during, or after a crisis.

How we work

OUR MODEL

An integrated nonprofit model designed for moments of disruption and long-term healing.
Altadena Girls operates through a three-part approach

IMMEDIATE RESPONSE

We activate quickly during crises to provide essentials, support, and safe points of connection.

ONGOING SUPPORT

We activate quickly during crises to provide essentials, support, and safe points of connection.

COMMUNITY CONNECTION

We activate quickly during crises to provide essentials, support, and safe points of connection.

DURING A CRISIS

When a crisis hits, the needs of teen girls and those who identify with girlhood are too often overlooked.
Altadena Girls mobilizes essentials, maintains connection with girls and families, and provides continuity when schools, routines, and support systems are disrupted. Our infrastructure both physical and digital allows us to respond quickly while centering dignity, care, and belonging.
